Participants in the NIMBioS Summer Research Experiences program rated their levels of knowledge about several research-related topics both before and after participating in the program. Before the program, participants on average rated themselves 3.2 on a 5-point scale (1 = Extremely poor understanding of the topic, 5 = Excellent understanding). After participation, the average rating was 4.0.
